Mike rode bikes and fooled around with English cars and VWs in high school, college and the Navy, and studied automotive repair at the College of Alameda, along with auto body, machine shop and plastics. Following the Navy, Mike worked on cars and motorcycles in the San Francisco Bay Area until the early 1980s.

Roadracing motorcycles in the American Federation of Motorcyclists (AFM) was a pastime, and in 1982, Mike became Technical Editor of Rider Magazine. Mike helped to emphasized the "sport" side of touring for the next three years along with a few other ex-roadracers on the staff.

"I'm now the only Haynes motorcycle manual author in the U.S." To date, he's written five titles (a sportbike, two cruisers and two ATVs) and is currently turning out number six on Yamaha dirt bikes.

While maintaining a low profile the last eight years, Mike has returned to school to double major in History and English Literature. Plans include going to grad school for Literature in the seaside University of California at Santa Barbara environment.

Manuel M. Mr. Moncivais wrote "The Teen Driver's Bible" (copyright January, 1998) and developed "Improving the Teen Driver" seminar series to help accomplish his (and DIA's) goals. He also developed "Don't Be A Statistic" Safety program for Corporate America.

Manny has an impressive background to qualify him as a safety expert. As Operations Manager with United Parcel Service, he became a Driver Safety Trainer, conducting Safety and Company Orientations for close to ten years. He then became responsible for safety training of all couriers and conducting accident investigations as Operations Manager/Driver Trainer with FEDEX. He later completed Courier Driver Training courses and Management Safety Practices course.

Born in Bryan, Texas, Manny attended Estacado High School and Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, then served in the U.S. Army at Ft.Ord, California, and Darmstadt, Germany. He received an Honorable Discharge in May 1972 from the 61st MP Detachment and eUrotic TV Mashiara.
